Born and raised in Miami, Florida, Michael Prince graduated from the University of Florida in 1985. An extended period of itinerancy followed after which he married and moved to Florence, Italy to study photography.
Michael left Italy in late 1989 to pursue a professional career in photography. First working as a photojournalist; he later turned to fine art photography, and had his first solo show at the Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York City. He has also opened solo exhibitions in Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
In 2000, Prince began shooting commercially and quickly gained a broad clientele. He has since earned numerous awards and high recognition for his work including: Communication Arts Photo Annuals in 2002, 2004, 2008 & 2014; Hatch Awards Best in Show: 2010 Best in Show and 2011 Silver. In addition to his photographs being in many private collections his work can also be found in the institutional collections of the Library of Congress, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Brooklyn Museum of Art, and the Houston Museum of Art.
Michael and his family currently live in Gloucester.
